My credit card was charged once again since I used it to book McRent a year ago. They said it was a mistake but there are a lot of customers I have talked to on an online platform that they have the same experience. It was a ridiculous experience. They have not deleted my booking data for a year. I don't recommend McRent.

Besten Dank

Sehr gute Erfahrung gemacht.

It cost me 7xx sf and it took nearly 8 months to get an invoice and exactly charge from mc rent horrible company. U have to be very careful of the check at the site when u rent the caravan if u really decided to rent it with them!!! We didn’t check the deployment of the an side roof . And it turn out broken when we are first deploy it!! Which they claim the van is 100% new first time to be used! But they also charged us that part of damage. I send them the email in the past 8 month first still reply but then ... they try to ignore ur email until I contact my agent to reach them still ... they gave us the fake response they said it will be done in one month but finally it took three more months !! Horrible unreliable .. unresponsive company !!! U better find another company !! Don’t rent this mcrent !!

Our first time renting a motorhome, which was organised via our travel agent in Australia. We booked roughly 8 months in advance and arranged to collect the vehicle at the Zurich airport and to make things easier for us we booked a motel nearby. Only a few weeks before heading overseas we were informed that the company had now moved to Baar. To compensate we were offered a refund of the linen package and collection from the nearby railway station. This was agreed to and we headed off on the trip, which was for 6 weeks 4 of which were with another 5 people who were flying back out of Zurich before we collected the vehicle. About 2 weeks into our trip I get an email from my agent telling me that the date we were to collect the vehicle was a public holiday (like it just popped up). This stuffed us around no end due to our motel booking and wanting to spend the last couple of night with friends. In the end McRent offered to collect us from Zurich on the 19th and give us the van for a night free. So I contacted the Motel, cancelled our 2 night booking (at $180pn) and tried to book a single night. That fee then went to $410 pn! So as a result we cancelled that and decided to spend that extra night where we were and on the following day made our way directly to Baar to collect the van. We were told to ring McRent on our arrival at the railway station and we would be collected.
On the way, at Zurich, I rang to advise we would be there at time A but was told no ring when we get to Baar as "I am really busy." Fine to problem. When we get to Baar I ring again only to be told to ring back in 10 to 15 min as "Tommy" was out. He turned up at the station about 15 minutes later to collect us, which was fine. Tommy was a nice bloke but kept expressing how busy he was and when he ran through the running of the van he was very brief but kept expressing if anything was damaged, if the van wasn't cleaned or refuelled we would have to pay X $'s. Cleaning? What do we pay the high rental fees for? First stop. No kettle to boil water, no toaster, no desert/cereal bowls, no chairs for sitting under the awning - these I would have thought would be standard! Go to use hot water & think, we weren't shown anything about that. Have a look at the manuals - turn it on but don't get hot water after hours. Ring the company and in the end decide to call back in on our way to the next stop. It worked for them! Mention about the bowls, kettle etc and told they don't supply those things. The next 2 weeks we spent in the van and have a good time. Van was really good condition, comfortable and economical. On returning it, to Tommy, he spends far more time going over it looking for damage etc than he spent showing us how it worked. We asked him if it was clean enough, as we had wiped it down and swept it out (hadn't used the shower), only to be told "not really but I won't charge you the fee to clean it". I asked him how are we supposed to clean it as we don't have anything else clean it with only to be told it should be as clean as it was when we collected it. We asked if we could be dropped off at the railway station with all our gear and at first Tommy was reluctant but in the end did drop us off. He was different to deal with being like your best mate one minute then abrupt and agro the next. If the company is that busy and he's so stressed out why haven't they got more staff? It was their mistake about the date of collection, their decision to move the collection point and through discussions with our agent made offers to collect us etc which Tommy denied and even stated our agent was a pain to deal with.
I know some of you might think we are being picky when it comes to what is supplied but really no kettle? Those things not supplied are standard items for living aren't they?
Anyway I wouldn't rent off them again as we felt we were under pressure to perform for them. I hope this review doesn't mean I'll get some extra charge later on like in a previous review!

The rental company decided to charge me the maximum insurance deductible (Selbstbehalt) of 1500 CHF after returning the rented vehicle with a cosmetic scratch. Two months after the rental I was still not presented with any evidence that the damage was actually repaired despite asking for this three times, I expect McRent/Top Caravan just pocketed this cash. If I would rent here again I would expect to pay whatever they charge plus 1500 which is in no way market competitive. Disappointing.
