I don't usually bother posting negative reviews, but my recent rental experience with Hertz and this location merits it. What the heck, Hertz I attempted to drop off my rental at this location (the same location at which I had picked it up a week earlier) only to find both the garage and the rental counter gated closed, with traffic cones blocking the turn lane to access the garage. What should have been a two-minute affair became a three-hour ordeal spread over two days as I waited on hold endlessly and spoke to Hertz's overseas customer support multiple times, getting bounced around while they tried to tell me that the location was definitely open (even as I was talking to them while staring right at an obviously shuttered location). Hertz, spare us your generic "We're always striving to improve" response to these reviews. I can see that others posted similar experiences days before I did, yet Hertz still made the conscious decision not to notify any of us who had pickups or dropoffs at this location. You're not striving and you're not improving. This was just an unforced error and an epic failure.

The worst experience ever in Hertz. I returned the car on Dec 28th and parked at the Hertz designated parking space. When I was trying to return the key, there was no one there and the office is completely closed. It's a Monday noon and no one is assisting me. I ended up dropping the key in the return drop box and left. A week later, I kept getting contact regarding my rental overdue. Hertz, I returned at your place and you were saying my rental was overdue? It was ridiculous.

I went to pick up my rental car this morning. The gate was shut and another customer informed me that this place is permanently closed. I found this pdd since I spoke to a rep several days ago. So I called corporate and confirmed it was closed as of Friday, 12/20. They told me there were no cars available at ANY location in the city
I was never contacted by Hertz about this location being closed so that I could make other arrangements. Other customers weren't contacted either because people kept showing up to drop off their cars or pick up their rentals. I couldn't find another rental car last minute at any other company because of the holidays. Such a terrible way to treat your customers.

Google needs to be update this location as permanently closed

If I can give zero stars I would. This has been the worst experience with Hertz I had in a while. I’ve never had such difficulty renting a vehicle. This is the least helpful and ill-informed location I’ve ever been to.

Please update this location as permanently closed. I, along with other customers, found out this location is permanently closed but customers still were coming to pick up or drop off their rentals. Hertz failed to reach out to customers to inform them of the upcoming closure. I was unable to secure a car from here or any other location in the city. Couldnt even make other arrangements with other companies because they were sold out.

Their customer service representative over the phone will lie to you and tell you that cars are available and when you arrive to the location they won't have anything They don't care about their customers they just want to make sure they get their quota for reservation

Friday - December 9th - Approximately 9:30a McCormick Place Hertz

WORST Service experience I've ever had. I would NOT give this place one star. There were 3 people in line before me, not the best look but understandable for a Friday morning. The employee was efficient so the line moved fast enough but the employee REFUSED TO ACCEPT MY PHYSICAL APPLE CARD and refused to rent me a car because she could not accept a "virtual card". This may be a Hertz policy but the fact is the card was a 100% Physical and with my full name. This employee (senior black woman}, HELD THE PHYSICAL APPLE CARD IN HER HAND and would not accept the card with my full name printed on it AND with my valid drivers license. Unbelievable. I have never experience such an egregious act of incompetence and unwillingness to service a customer. I was stunned in the moment and tried to plead my case....... the card had a chip and Hertz had 2 machines that could accept the card. Her answer was No. She insisted she needed to "type" in numbers; numbers that were visible on my Apple phone. She refused.
I politely asked for a refund. She refused. She could or WOULD NOT help accomplish anything. I politely asked her for her first and last name.........and this is where Hertz lost me as a customer forever......she clearly LIES and states her name is "Alicia" and that she does not give out her last name. I guess if I knew I was both high and drunk at work and a professional was going to contact corporate about my experience, I would consider lying too.
Incredible. Both professionalism and service is out of the question at this Hertz location. I will never return and I'll never recommend Hertz to anyone I do business with. THE WORST. THE WORST. THE ABSOLUTE WORST.

Alicia is amazing! She’s such a sweetheart and very professional. This was the best experience I’ve had with any car rental company. I will forever come to this specific Hertz for any of my car rental needs. I truly appreciate you Hertz! Great job!
